    The shadowy couple
    Stand
    Entwined,
    On the solitary beach—
    Like two tall drunk palms,
    Watched by the circling seagulls,
    The gurgling waves
    And a fading orange light.

    She eats his lower thick tobacco-stained lip,
    In a listless lip lock,
    In the manner of
    The hungry tramps
    Greedily
    Sucking
    The thick buns—
    Of a stale, left-over, blackish burger

    Left for the street dogs.
